
Dr. Michael W. Steines earned his medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in 1991. He then moved on to develop and perfect his skills during his residency and internship through the University of Kansas Medical Center, completing his training in 1996. Upon graduation, Dr. Steines relocated to the Bryan/College Station area to start his practice with Dr. Alford, where together the two created the dream of their current practice, General and Bariatric Surgical Associates. Dr. Steines obtained his board certification from the American Board of Surgery in 1997 and became a Fellow of the American College of Surgery in 1999. His surgical interests include: bariatric, breast, colorectal, surgical oncology, trauma and vascular surgery. Currently, Dr. Steines is the on the Board of Directors for St. Joseph's Regional Health Care System.
Most recently Dr. Steines has become a Certified Specialist for Ultrasound of the breast, making it easy for patients to come into the office and get an ultrasound guided biopsy, without the hassle of scheduling appointments in several different locations. Dr. Steines has also added becoming an Associate Professor at TAMUHSC, sharing his love of medicine with the medical students.
Dr. Steines has been married to his lovely wife Janet since 1992 and together they have 3 wonderful children. In his spare time Dr. Steines enjoys recreational sports, swimming, theater, music and spending time with his family.
