
Dr. Richard D Alford, a Texas native, earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch , Galveston in 1984. He then completed his internship and residency program at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency Program, where he was able to perfect his skills in general surgery. Dr. Alford was board certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1990, and became a Fellow of the American College of Surgery in 1996. After several years of practicing in the Illinois area, Dr. Alford and his family decided to return to their Texas roots, relocating to the Bryan/College Station area in 1991. Throughout his career in the Brazos valley he has continued to grow his practice and be an active member in several different organizations including the Texas Surgical Society (member since 1994). He has also received several prestigious honors, such as 2005 Physician of The Year, by the NRCC Physician Congressional Advisory Board. Currently he is the Director of the Trauma Department at the St Joseph Regional Health Center. Dr. Alfords surgical interests include: bariatric, dialysis, breast, colorectal, surgical oncology, trauma and vascular surgery.
Dr. Alford has been happily married to his lovely wife Tracy since 1981, and together they have three children. In his spare time, Dr. Alford enjoys running marathons, recreational sports and experiencing nature with his family.
